Mine tailings are one of the most pressing challenges facing the mining industry today. This waste generated during the extraction and processing of minerals can have a significant impact on the environment and surrounding communities if not properly managed. That is why the Tailings Congress has become a crucial event to address this issue and seek innovative and sustainable solutions.

The Tailings 2023 Congress was held June 14-16 at the Sheraton Santiago Hotel in Chile, bringing together mining industry professionals, academics and leaders to discuss and debate best practices in tailings management. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, technical sessions and networking opportunities, participants had the chance to expand their knowledge, exchange ideas and establish connections with experts in the field.

The 9th version of the congress was attended by more than 500 participants from more than 35 mining companies from 24 countries. During three days, we participated in a technical program of 98 lectures and an exhibitors' fair with more than 30 sponsors.

Our participation was focused on the VOGT Cantilever Floating Systems, in addition to raising the idea of developing an amphibious floating unit capable of moving autonomously and positioning itself at different fluid capture points, depending on the nature of the process and avoiding that the pumping system is exposed to the large presence of solids produced by environmental issues in the tailings dams.

We are happy to have participated in this event where we were able to share knowledge, experiences and technological advances with the aim of promoting innovation and sustainability in the mining industry.
