We participated in the seventh stage of the capacity expansion of the Talabre dam, Chuquicamata in Chile, one of the largest tailings dams in the world, with a perimeter of more than 52 km. The project included floating pumps distributed in the northern and southern tailings dams.
This project had a particular complexity, as it is a very dynamic dam that constantly changes its depth level, which required the development of a floating pumping system according to the technical requirements of the client.
In addition, we were part of the project to increase the storage capacity of the Talabre tailings dam phase VIII, with the objective of sustaining the sulfide ore business.
The main works of the project were: modification of the current gravity transport system and tailings deposition, modification of the current recovery system and recirculation of clear water from the tailings dam to the concentrator plant, to mention a few.
