Water recovered from a tailings dam is an invaluable resource in the mining industry. This water, once treated and purified, can be sustainably reused in various operations, contributing to the conservation of natural resources, and reducing the environmental impact of mining activities. The efficient management of this reclaimed water is essential to promote responsible practices and environmental protection in mineral extraction areas.

This is why we were part of the water reclamation project at Sierra Gorda SCM, located in the Sierra Gorda Commune, Antofagasta Region in Chile, about 60 km southwest of the city of Calama and about 1700 meters above sea level.

The project included stainless steel VOGT pumps, power and control panels and floating walkways. The equipment is suitable for operating with seawater and in a dusty environment. The pumps used are designed to operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a robust, durable and wear resistant design, showing the highest standard of the Chilean industry.
