We implemented a high-performance solution for a world-class mining operation in Central America.

In early 2025, VOGT was selected to develop and implement a comprehensive water recovery system based on floating vertical cantilever pumping for one of the world's leading gold producers, with operations in Central America.

This project marked a milestone for our company: it was our first implementation in that country and with this client, competing directly with long-standing global suppliers. Beyond the commercial challenge, the important thing was to demonstrate our technical, engineering, and execution capabilities in the field in a highly demanding environment.

Water recovery in mining: efficiency, continuity, and operational reliability

In mining, the recovery and recirculation of process water is a critical factor for operational continuity, water efficiency, and compliance with environmental standards.

In this context, the client required a robust, reliable, and fully integrated solution on a floating structure, capable of operating under strict technical and performance standards.

At VOGT, we approached the challenge from our area of expertise: developing comprehensive pumping solutions, not just individual pieces of equipment.

Our solution: comprehensive system with floating cantilever vertical pumping

To meet the customer's challenge, we designed and implemented a comprehensive vertical cantilever pumping system specially configured to operate on a floating structure and under the demanding conditions typical of large-scale mining.

Beyond the equipment itself, our focus was on the complete integration of the system, ensuring consistency between hydraulic design, operating conditions, and maintainability requirements.

The solution incorporated:

  • • Monitoring systems for continuous control of motor status.
  • Secure access infrastructure for operation and maintenance.
  • Electrical conduits and industrial cabling management.
  • Total integration engineering on a floating structure.

This systemic approach allowed us to deliver a solution designed not only to meet design parameters, but also to facilitate daily operation, optimize maintenance management, and ensure long-term reliability.

At VOGT, we understand that efficiency in mining depends not only on the equipment installed, but also on how each component is integrated into a robust, safe, and operationally sustainable system.

Engineering and execution: strict compliance with international standards

During the first half of 2025, we developed the project through different stages:
  • Detailed engineering development and review.
  • Manufacturing under strict quality control protocols.
  • Technical inspections and checkpoints in accordance with the client's requirements.
  • Regular coordination and follow-up meetings.
We fully complied with the client's technical standards, which are globally recognized for their high level of rigor. We manufacture, inspect, and ship the system within the agreed-upon deadlines, ensuring that both the technical performance and the final presentation of the project are aligned with the expectations of a world-class mining operation.

Commissioning, training, and validation in the field

The implementation was carried out in two key stages:

Assembly and installation

We supervised the complete installation of the pumps, auxiliary systems, walkways, and electrical components, ensuring proper integration with the existing infrastructure.

Commissioning and final start-up

We commissioned the system and validated its final operation, meeting and exceeding the established design parameters.

As part of our commitment to the customer's operational continuity, we also conducted a specialized course on the Operation and Maintenance of Vertical Cantilever Pumps, aimed at the technical team involved in the operation.

This allowed us to:

  • Transfer key technical knowledge.
  • Standardize operating criteria.
  • Strengthen preventive maintenance practices.
  • Reduce risks associated with improper operation.

We understand that a pumping solution does not end with the delivery of the equipment; its sustained performance also depends on proper operation and maintenance in the field.

Currently, the system operates at a flow rate of around 1,000 m³/h, achieving levels of reliability, continuity, and performance superior to the pumping systems previously used in the operation.

The customer's Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Construction departments particularly appreciated the fulfillment of the technical and operational objectives defined for the project.

Comprehensive support: from engineering to after-sales

One of the most relevant aspects of this project was that there was no previous commercial relationship or installed base in that country.

We built trust through:

  • A solid technical proposal.
  • Proven engineering capabilities.
  • Ongoing coordination with the client's different departments.
  • Specialized support during commissioning.
  • Technical training focused on operation and maintenance.

For our clients, this model means real technical support throughout the entire project cycle.

At VOGT, we understand that large-scale mining requires more than just equipment: it requires reliable, integrated solutions designed for operational continuity.

We continue to move forward to develop comprehensive pumping solutions that bring efficiency, reliability, and sustained value to mining operations.
